2023 Oakland County and Municipality Hazard Mitigation Questionnaire

Instructions

To Whom It May Concern:

Oakland County and participating municipalities are conducting a study to better understand the emergency preparedness needs and hazard risk perceptions of its residents, regarding flooding, severe winter storm, and other emergencies and disasters that could impact the county. To do so, a questionnaire has been distributed throughout the county, and you have been selected to participate. Your feedback is greatly needed and appreciated!

The questionnaire should only take about 10 minutes to complete. All responses will be kept confidential, and your participation is strictly voluntary. Your input will enable the County and participating municipalities to better serve you in times of emergencies and disasters.

DEADLINE
The survey for the purposes of the 2023 plan update was completed July 30, 2023. We thank all those who participated.

In order to foster continual public participation and feedback as required by FEMA, the questionnaire will remain open over the next 5 years, and Oakland County Emergency Management and Homeland Security will monitor results as part of the annual review process.

DEFINITIONS

Hazard Mitigation:  The purpose of hazard mitigation planning is to identify policies and actions that can be implemented over the long term to reduce risk and future losses to life and property. Mitigation forms the foundation for a community's long-term strategy to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated damage.
